Since 1975, Bob has helped senior management in the retail and restaurant industries make informed decisions regarding store deployment and conceptual issues. He began his career at Chatham Supermarkets in Detroit and later joined Howard L. Green and Associates, a location research consulting firm. In 1981, Bob joined General Mills Restaurant Group where he directed Darryl's Restaurants' real estate expansion strategy. One of the original partners in Thompson Associates, Bob served as its President from 1987 until January 2003 when the company was acquired by MapInfo Corporation. Bob remained as MapInfo's Global Vice President of Predictive Analytics until 2007.

Throughout his career, Bob has worked closely with some of the country's largest and most successful retailers. Besides directing real estate strategies, Bob has helped these organizations refine and evolve their concepts, provided insight into consumer attitudes and opinions, evaluated acquisition opportunities, and addressed issues relating to market prioritization, marketing, and problem store analysis.

Bob wrote the book "Site Selection" which has been used as a collegiate text. He is a frequent speaker at industry seminars, webinars, and site selection "how-to" clinics. Bob holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Wayne State University (1976).
